Each film crew consists of 3 Directors: an International Education Director, an International Film Director, and a local Film Director. Our director:star ratio is 1:3 for our films in order to maximize the edutainment.

Film Director

Director of Photography

Reports To: The Film Director will report to the Program Director(s) as well as collaborate with their assigned team.

Job Overview: In your role as Film Director, your job will be to direct and shoot a film. It consists of working with the Education Director and the kids to make the script you helped them write come to life. Your job is to craft the film’s artistic and dramatic aspects, and visualize the script while working with the other members of the crew and actors to make the short film a success. You will be establishing the visual look of the movie. As a DP, you will tell the story through the artistic and technical decisions you make regarding lighting, shot selection, camera operation, and other elements.


Particularly talented as a:

  • Director

  • Cinematographer/ DP

  • Editor

  • Sound and Light Design

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Lead pre-production planning which is including, but not limited to, shot list and locations as well as checking camera equipment.

  • Leading production on storyboard, practicalities when it comes to equipment/time/skills, efficient scheduling, and collaborating with the Director of Photography.

  • Ensuring there is equality in lines, screen time, and fun!  

  • Supervising the storyboard.

  • Making sure your actors are pronouncing words correctly.

  • Determining which equipment is needed and testing it.

  • Setting up camera, set white balance for the lighting, and test records.

  • Getting as much B roll as you can.

  • Scouting the locations needed to get the best shots.

  • Backup and organize the footage of the day(s) by location, date, and type. (picture and video)

Qualifications

  • Experience in film/media and/or education.

  • A high school degree or higher

  • Passion for filmmaking and/or education.

Education Director

Director of Education

Reports to: The Director of Education will report to the Program Director(s) as well as collaborate with their assigned team.

Job Overview: Your role consists of working with children who are learning a language, and making sure they are getting the most from the script and activities we are providing them with. We want to make sure they are immersed in the language during pre production, production, and post production. Your job is to make sure they are learning while having fun, being active, and remaining engaged.

Particularly talented as:

  • An acting coach

  • A scriptwriter

  • A singer/songwriter

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Coming up with fun games to keep the kids active throughout the production process.

  • Planning improv style games to increase kids acting abilities.

  • Responsible of Stars Manuals, and along the way will assist in grammar problems and diversifying their vocabulary.

  • Helping brainstorm and write a script that stays true to the kids ideas.

  • Creating a scene breakdown and storyboard with Director and kids.

  • Assisting with memorizing of lines and pronunciation in pre production, production, and post production.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with kids

  • A high school degree or higher

  • Passion for filmmaking and/or education.

THE BTS team will stay 3 extra days after the program is done in order to finalize all the content they have created during the program and submit it by the required deadline.

Film Editor

Reports to: The Editor will report to the Production Director as well as collaborate with their assigned team.

Job Overview:In your role as Film Editor you will be responsible for working collaboratively with the kids, Director, and the DP to make sure the short film you have helped fits together in post production. Your job is to remove the unnecessary shots, and fit the pieces of film together to make a finished movie. Being a film editor requires hours of looking through footage and then assembling a film a half second at a time, while working quickly to make deadlines.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Editing promo videos.

  • Editing LCL footage and films.

  • Coordinating back up of footage process at the end of day.

  • Media Management

  • Editing BTS footage into 30 second montages for each day of the program.

  • Help your team see what is cinematically feasible!

Qualifications:

  • Experience in film/media

  • In Undergrad and/or Bachelor’s degree.

  • Passion for filmmaking and/or education.


Behind-The-Scenes Videographer

Reports to: The Behind-the-Scenes videographer will report to the Production Director as well as collaborate with their assigned team.

Job Overview: The Behind-the-Scenes Videographer is responsible for taking pictures and videos of the process, and then working closely with the social media manager to distribute and make use of that footage. Our BTS videographer will be the director of this year’s promo video, so they will be asked to bring their unique filmmaking style to the table. You will be helping out with anything extra on set, such as making sure the kids are comfortable on camera. You will also be documenting the Red Carpet event!

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Taking B roll and footage of every day of the program.

  • Leading and filming the interviews

  • Storyboarding and leading the promotional video content.

  • Collaborating with your promo video team.

  • Organizing footage as well as editing and working efficiently to have the promo video done by the end of the program.

  • Backup and organize the footage of the day(s) by location, date, and type. (picture and video)

Qualifications:

  • Experience in film/media and/or education.

  • In Undergrad and/or Bachelor’s degree.

  • Passion for filmmaking and/or education.

BTS Photographer and Social Media Manager

Reports to: The Behind-the-Scenes Social Manager will report to the Program Director(s) as well as collaborate with their assigned team.

Job Overview: To truly capture all people’s honest experiences to share them with the world. You will be creating diverse content everyday while you are working with the kids and the rest of the team. You will be posting on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube. Whether is be daily vlogs, interviews, or just cool pictures, we want you to get the word out there during the very busy, intense, and fun month!

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Creating/curating content to post everyday.

  • Capturing magical moments on camera, photographing the trip, from travel photos to BTS photos.

  • Helping interview the participants.

  • Leading the social media plan and coordinating with the BTS Photographer/Videographer on content needed.

  • Creating movie posters for the LCL Films of your program.

  • Planning the Red Carpet Event.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in social media planning and Photography

  • In Undergrad and/or Bachelor’s degree.

  • Passion for filmmaking and/or education.
